The Most Anticipated Games of E3

Erik Says: All Points Bulletin is coming from a studio run by the guy that brought you Lemmings, Grand Theft Auto and Crackdown. That alone should get you excited. It helps that the very early build of this MMO shooter we saw at Game Developers Conference in 2008 blew us away.
 Halo 3: ODST
Erik Says: We still know very little about the first Halo game from Bungie that doesn't star Master Chief. E3 is where we expect to get the first look at the campaign. For Halo nuts, it doesn't get more exciting than this.
 Alan Wake
Erik Says: Microsoft hasn't confirmed that Alan Wake will be at E3, but if it isn't we can all agree that it is pretty safe to say it has all of the hallmarks of vaporware. Alan Wake was announced in 2006 and we haven't heard from it since. It's now or never for this 360/PC exclusive.
 Splinter Cell: Conviction
Erik Says: Ubisoft has begun teasing the return of Sam Fisher, a man we haven't heard from in quite some time. After announcing the game, Ubisoft went dark and rumors of the project being scrapped and restarted began to surface. We're excited to see the direction Conviction has taken while in hiding.
 Forza 3
Erik Says: Forza 3 hasn't been officially announced per se, but it is one of the worst kept secrets in the world of Xbox 360. We're interested to see what Microsoft's answer to Gran Turismo will offer to keep fans excited and draw in new racing enthusiasts.
 BioShock 2
Charles Says: It's a different developer this time around – 2K Marin instead of 2K Boston, which was formerly Irrational Games – but a handful of the original staff made the jump to the new California-based studio, so there's plenty of hope the second game can match up to the first. There a quite a few differences with this one, including a new protagonist, all-new multiplayer mode, new enemies, and new ways to attack, and we're very much looking forward to hearing and seeing more at the show.
 Modern Warfare 2
Charles Says: One of the most popular games on Xbox 360, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, is also one of the best. With Infinity Ward at the helm, there's little doubt that Modern Warfare 2 is going to deliver more thrills, action, and addictive multiplayer gameplay. We're just eager to see exactly how it's going to be done – specifically what the multiplayer modes will be like, how the unlock system will work (we're assuming there is one), and how the new Special Forces mode will work. So the majority of what's been talked about is single-player content, so hopefully there'll be something new at the LACC..
 Final Fantasy XIII
Charles Says: While this isn't yet confirmed to be at E3 2009, we're still going to assume it'll show up. It's the next major entry in one of the biggest and longest-running franchises in gaming, and compared to years past, it's much less of a mystery with the demo that recently went live in Japan. So what do we want to know? Well, anything really -- more about the characters, about the storyline, about the game world, the battle system, and about when it might be showing up in North America. If we happen to randomly encounter the game while traversing the E3 show floor, we'll be sure to let you know.
 Mass Effect 2
Charles Says: BioWare's Mass Effect, a science-fiction role-playing game, featured a range of memorable characters, top notch voice acting, strong writing, a distinct visual style, opportunities to make meaningful decisions, and great soundtrack. It's not a game you forget easily. The combat may have been a little wobbly, but overall it's hard to do anything but admire what the venerable developer was able to achieve. With the sequel, BioWare has so far teased elements of the story, as well as promised to deliver a more action-oriented battle system, and we'll be reporting all the latest from the show to keep you up to date.
 Assassin's Creed II
Erik Says: Ubisoft Montreal's Assassin's Creed was a lot of things. It was beautiful. It featured some of the best character animations out there. It had a surprisingly complex plot and let players run around in a large, meticulously detailed open world. But it had issues, which mostly had to do with its quest structure. With the second game, you'll play as a different assassin in a different time period with new kinds of mechanics, and we're very much looking forward to how it's all going to turn out.
